- On 9/11 I was in my car on the BQE which is the expressway that runs parallel to Manhattan. I watched the attack fully after the first tower was hit because I was driving towards them as I have many a morning. Michael Carroll was the kindest boy to me in 8th grade and he was my first crush. Firefighter Michael Carroll ( ladder #3 ) leaves behind his High School sweetheart Nancy and 2 children. Funerals,24 hr shifts on the PILE, exhaustion, I have never seen men suffer so and be able to give just as much to others.They gave so much to us and they continue on . We must now take care of our comrads and their families.
